Dean Moore

Founder / Piano Teacher Jazz & Classical

Dean Moore is an experienced musician and teacher, specialising in jazz and classical piano. Dean has been teaching piano for over 35 years. His results and rapport with students are highly regarded, with great success across students ranging from 4 to 65 years old. Many of Dean’s students continue their musical studies through VCE and tertiary levels.

Dean began playing the piano at age 12, immediately realising a great passion and affinity for music. He began teaching piano and guitar at 17 after discovering a natural talent for inspiring and nurturing the musical passions of others. Dean then moved to Melbourne, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Instrumental Studio Music at Deakin University.

It was at university that Dean discovered the world of jazz and improvisation, and was fortunate to study for three years under the guidance of one of Australia’s most well-respected jazz pianist/educators, Tony Gould.

Dean has worked as the musical director and arranger for a number of corporate ensembles, playing with many members of Melbourne’s elite jazz fraternity, and currently performs regularly with the Dean Moore Jazz Trio. He also composes music for short films and has written a number of successful stage musicals with the company Play On Words.
